Why you can’t rely on just SEO

Our websites are built SEO (search engine optimised) as standard. However in 2024 with billions of websites on the internet, just having an optimised website often isn’t enough to be able to rely on Google for traffic, especially if your website is brand new.

To appear in Google you can either rely on appearing in the natural results (also known as “organic” or “traditional”) or you can pay to appear at the top using their Adwords service. The same goes for Bing search too.

You can get to the top of Google almost straight away
For keywords with high commercial intent (e.g. people searching to buy something) 64.6% of clicks are for AdWords (PPC), not traditional (organic) results. So paying for ads will usually mean you get more clicks than over organic results
AdWords (pay per click ads) take up to 85.2% of the page before having to scroll down, so you’re more visible
