uporium eCommerce websites evolved from ph9 web design which was started in 2004 by Rob Watson with the dream of making computers and the web work for the world. Rather than just a slogan, this is our fundamental ethos and ideology which we practice and strive to deliver every day.
Over the years we’ve carved out a reputation for providing high quality websites, and being able to create the features and designs that other companies weren’t able to.
As we’ve evolved we found that the majority of our clients were either eCommerce websites or Antiques websites; so we decided to concentrate our efforts on this and created uporium eCommerce websites, and Antiques Web Design.
Sam is our senior account manager which involves him ascertaining client's requirements, finding the best solution for them, and making sure everything we’ve promised gets delivered. His focus is on making sure we’re a company that offers real world solutions and that speaks plain English.
Before joining uporium, Sam has built and sold a successful business, and has extensive experience in both retail, food and the world of technology.
Sam and his lovely wife Kirsty have two wonderful daughters and two dogs; Pippa and Murphy.
James is one of our developers. He is extremely talented and a bit of a genius; besides building websites and systems, he also helps our clients by answering any technical support tickets that they may have.
In his spare time James is the typical ‘techie’ playing games on his PC and PS4. He loves to cook and bake and when we have been on good behaviour he will even bring some into the office. Rob does his best to resist the smells of James’ home baking.
Jess is our junior web developer. She's the newest member of our team but her bachelor's degree in Computer Science makes her no less valuable! When she is not actively developing websites, she is researching ways to ever hone her skills.
When her mind isn't in her work it is instead on helping the world, having recently completed a volunteer trip to Tanzania with Raleigh International through the International Citizen Service programme.
Harry is our apprentice and is spending his time building on the skills he had already developed before joining us which includes building web sites.
Away from the office, he enjoys football, gaming and swapping online shopping carts for go-karts!
Our offices are based in Friar Gate Studios; which houses dozens of creative companies and inspires collaborative working.
If there's a part of a project we can't do or need specialist assistance on; you can bet we can find it down the corridor.
Since we started in 2004, we've also built up relationships with specialists so we can ensure that each project has the best people working on each aspect of the job.
I'm a big animal lover and have 2 dogs and 2 cats; all rescues. I've just built a chicken coop in my garden so am hoping to get rescue battery hens soon; wish me luck!
Day to day my main role is as head designer & developer. I manage all of our projects and lead the team to make sure we deliver the best quality work possible. I’m fussy and quite hard to please, but the side effect is that I only let the best quality work leave the door.
In my spare time I love cars, DIY, DJ’ing at my local gym and parties, travelling, and most of all love doing it all with friends and living life to the full. Oh, and given the opportunity I'm more than happy to throw myself out of a plane!
